Junior Jackets defeat Dollarway

By Dr. Jamie Beavers

The 2013 Clinton Junior High Yellow Jackets beat the Pine Bluff Dollarway Cardinals on Thursday, Oct. 3, with a score of 28-12.

Mitchell McNeill scored 3 touchdowns, 1 in each of the first three quarters, to give the Jackets a lead. Avery Bramlett added a 2 point conversion run to give Clinton a 20-12 lead through three quarters.

The Jacket defense allowed Dollarway to drive to the Clinton 1 yard line but kept the Cardinals out of the end zone when Wyatt McCoy recovered a fumble on 4th down.

Clinton went down the field until McCoy ran in a 5 yard touchdown followed by Bryce Billings running in the 2 point play. Clinton 28-12.

Offensive leaders include: McNeill 8 carries for 95 yards; McCoy 15 for 71 yards; Bramlett 9 for 53 yards; Billings 1 for 25 yards and quarterback Hunter McHam 1 for 4 yards.

Defensive leaders were: McCoy 6 tackles; 4 tackles each for Cody Morris, Alexander Cooley and Andrew Kozma; and 3 tackles each for McNeill, Gunnar Ward and Stiles Booher.

This was a true team win with many starters out due to injury. Coaches Dufrene, Hudson, Wilson and Aynes have simply coached them up and plugged them in to play like a good team.

These Jackets are now 3-0 in conference play and 4-1 overall. The Junior Jackets play at home Thursday, Oct. 10, vs. the Stuttgart Ricebirds at 7 p.m. Hope to see you there.
