UCA to host Clinton game at Hooten’s Classic

A dozen of the top teams in Arkansas, including the Clinton Yellow Jackets, start the 2013 high school season during Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week. In the event’s 13-year history, 18 teams started runs to the state finals during Kickoff Week.

On Thursday, Sept. 5, at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, the Yellow Jackets play Arkansas Baptist at 5:30 p.m., followed by Rose Bud against 6-2A favorite Hazen.

Clinton will be designated as the visiting team and fans should enter the stadium at the northeast gate and sit in the east bleachers. Yellow Jacket fans are also encouraged to avoid traffic by traveling I-30 toward Little Rock, take the Dave Ward Drive exit to campus and turn right on Farris Drive to the stadium. Bruce Street should be avoided.

Kickoff Week begins with a Labor Day doubleheader at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Monday, Sept. 2. Two-time defending Class 7A champion Fayetteville plays the Warren Lumberjacks, the top-ranked team in Class 4A, at 7:30 p.m. Shiloh Christian meets Siloam Springs at 5:00 p.m.

UAPB’s Golden Lion Stadium in Pine Bluff hosts a doubleheader on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Class 3A power McGehee, which has won consecutive conference titles, meets Hamburg at 5:30 p.m., followed by 2012 Class 5A quarterfinalist White Hall against its former conference rival Monticello.
