It was a good night for football but another tough night for the Jackets.

Clinton started the game with a drive down the field for a touchdown but Newport proved to be hard to stop.

The offense was led by senior Casey Stacks with 118 yards rushing and one touchdown. Junior Stephen Sappington and sophomore Harrison Lester each rushed for 84 yards. Sappington had one touchdown and Lester scored two.

Ethan Mizell, Drew Farmer and Robert Ferrell helped on offense with a combined 78 yards rushing.

Quarterback Fielder Dufrene completed three passes for 23 yards and rushed for 13.

The defense spent a great deal of time on the field and had their hands full.

Leading the defense was senior Casey Stacks and sophomore Alex Clark with 8 tackles each. Senior Dalton Jackson had 5 tackles and sophomore Colton Martin finished with 6.

Wyatt Fletcher and Sappington helped out with 4 tackles each.

Kicker Jackson Benson was perfect on the night with 4 field goals.

Although the Jackets are battling several injuries they played hard and gave it their all.

The final score Friday night was Clinton 28 and Newport 63.

The Jackets will be back in action at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, when they host Heber Springs. It’s senior night so come out and support your Clinton Yellow Jackets.
