Jackets look strong in Black and Gold Game

The 2013 Senior High Black and Gold game was played this past Thursday night and the Jackets looked quick, fast and strong.

It appears that coach Chris Dufrene and staff have added to the play book since last season.

If you were at the game you saw the Jackets take to the air on more than a dozen plays throughout the game.

Quarterback Fielder Dufrene passed for over 50 yards connecting with receivers like Robby Slack and Colton Cook. Backup quarterback Kannon “The Snake” Bradley passed for 60 yards and completed a touchdown pass to Texas Sam Phillips.

But let’s not forget the key to their success is a salty offensive line. The Jackets running game looked great with the speed of Stephen Sappington and the power of “The Bull of the Woods” Harrison Lester.

I am happy to report that the “cruel but fair” defense is back. Linebackers Drew Farmer, Caden “Mad Dog” Hickman, and Lester hit hard and hit often. They love to hand out free concussions all night long. Toeing the defensive line is Sappington and Ben Smith on the ends and the “Tower of Power” Alex Clark filling the middle at nose guard.

Over all it looks like the Jackets are ready to crank up the pain train.

The Senior High Jackets kick off their season at UCA in the Hootens Classic on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 against Arkansas Baptist. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at Clark’s Cleaners up to the day of the game. All proceeds go to Hooten’s athletics and the Clinton football organization.
