This past Friday night the Clinton Yellow Jackets hosted the Pine Bluff Dollarway Cardinals in their third conference game. The Jackets were pumped and ready to go but the size and speed to the Cardinals won out in the end. The Jackets seem to have a difficult time moving the ball with only 212 total offenses.
Senior Mason Speer led the offense with 46 yards rushing. Quarterback Fielder Dufrene rushed for 20 yards and completed three passes for 30 yards.
Producing from the backfield was Stephen Sappington with 39 yards rushing and Harrison Lester with 23. Drew Farmer carried the ball on three occasions for 18 yards and Robby Slack had one reception for 12 yards.
The only points the Jackets produced was on a pass from Quarterback Kannon “Snake” Bradley to Mathew Madina for a touchdown.
The Jackets defense spent a great deal of time on the field Friday night trying to slow down the Cardinals running game. Lester led the charge with 8 tackles. Caden Hickman and Speer did their part with 5 tackles each. Finishing the game with 3 tackles each were Hunter Blanton, Slack and Rex Fletcher.
The two towers, Colton Martin and Alex Clark, each had 4 tackles.
When it was all said and done the Jackets took their first conference loss 48-7. This brings the Jackets overall record to 3-3 and 2-1 in conference.
The Jackets will travel to Stuttgart this Friday, Oct. 18. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. This will be the Jackets fourth conference game of the 2013 season so let’s get out and get behind them.
