Cardinals end season

The Clinton Cardinals played the Pine Bluff Braves on Sept. 8, losing the game 11-2, a loss that eliminated them from the Union Chapel tournament in the first round. This was a single elimination tournament.

Pine Bluff scored 7 unearned runs on 5 errors by the Clinton Cardinals.

Kendall “Dizzy Dean” Bates went 1 for 1 with 2 walks; Derek “D” Blasingame went 2 for 3 with a triple; and Ben Hunley went 1 for 2.

Nathan “Steady” Smith went 1 for 2 and was the Cardinals starting pitcher. Smith did well but the Cardinals just made too many mistakes.

Chris “Split Finger” McCurrie, from Russellville, finished the game and has been a real good closer for the Cardinals all year.

Overall the Cardinals had a good season and finished 6 games above 500.
