Clinton Cardinals beat Mexico

The Clinton Cardinals played Mexico on July 19 and beat them 25-7.

Josh “The Hook” Garcia started the game and pitched 6 innings allowing 2 runs and Nathan “Steady” Smith finished it.

Ben Ryan Smith, senior pitcher for the Clinton Yellow Jackets, has signed to play baseball with the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Ben was selected last season to the All Conference team. He also played for the Arkansas Express Showcase team, the Conway Cougars American Legion team, tournament teams and local league teams. He is the son of Paul and Candace Smith of Shirley and the grandson of Paula and the late Royce Smith of Clinton, and Ben G. and Veatrice Hunt of Shirley. Overcoming a pitching injury, junior Brian Dumas returned to the mound, hurling a shutout victory against the Concord Pirates on April 14. The Hornets won the outing 18-0 in three innings, pushing their conference record to 4-0.
