The South Side Hornets ended their regular baseball season as co-conference champions and went on to win their fourth straight 1A 2S District Tournament on Saturday, May 3. They swept through the first game of district with a win over the Concord Pirates of 10-0 in five innings. They played the Greers Ferry Eagles in the finals and won 7-4. The Clinton Lady Jackets Softball team defeated Lonoke, 11-0, last week to clinch the 2-4A Conference Championship, a first in Clinton school fast-pitch history. The girls had an undefeated conference season and lost only two games non-conference games during the regular season. The girls will play Heber Springs in the District Tournament at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Lonoke. The team is (front row) Daly Dufrene, Brittany Gobert, Caitlin Cody, Bailey Hensley, Caycee Lonnon, Taylor Huggins, (back row) head coach Joe Hudson, Tori Johnson, Randi McDonald, Abby Robbins, Anna Strawn, Kylie Blanton, Tyranee Balentine, Haley Hink and assistant coach Stephanie Lasley.
