The Formosa School alumna held their annual reunion Oct. 4 at the Formosa community building. There were 31 present. The last graduating class was in 1949 and the grade school was consolidated with Clinton a few years later. A potluck was served and Gerald Bond entertained with tunes on his fiddle. Memories of school days were recalled and a good time was had by all. Shirley Elementary students and staff enjoyed an afternoon with story teller Bil Lepp. This opportunity was provided by North Central Foundation for the Arts in Education.

The conference was presented by the Horticulture Department of the University of Arkansas. The Master Gardeners participated in group discussions, and shared ideas of how to make the program stronger, more visible and fun for its members. For information on becoming a Master Gardener, call County Extension agent Danny Griffin at 745-7117 or Verna Hicks at 884-3164. Deadline to apply for this year’s classes is Oct. 24.
