Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor:

Did you know? That there is no ordinance against firing a weapon in the city limits?

Did you know? That a high-powered weapon fired in the town (proper) can travel through most wood houses?

When you hear gunfire, do you cringe? You should.

Example: A few months ago about 8 p.m. or a little later, someone racked off about 15 rounds from some type assault rifle near my house in town. I called the sheriff’s office to report heavy firing. I was told by the dispatcher that there was no ordinance against firing a weapon in the city limits.

Doesn’t common sense dictate you don’t fire a weapons, especially at night, in the city? People have been wounded or killed by stray bullets. Think about this when you sit down with your family at dinner or at bedtime.

Do you feel safe?

A.L. Moore
