Larry Andrew Boren, 75, of Winnsboro, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Trinity Mission-Health and Rehab. Larry was born on Oct. 31, 1938, in Leakey, Texas, to the late John Samuel Boren Sr. and Alpha Marie (Large) Boren.
He worked as a ranch foreman in New Braunfels on the Dean Word Ranch for 15 years, from 1962 to 1979. They then moved to Bee Branch, Arkansas, where he was a rancher for the next 30 years. He then retired to Winnsboro in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon Boren of Winnsboro; son Cody Boren and wife Elizabeth of Coppell; three grandchildren, Katie Boren of Boston, Mass., Emma Boren of Coppell, and Clair Boren of New York City, N.Y. Larry is also survived by two sisters, Barbara La Montagne and husband Leo of Leakey, and Eileen McCaleb of Sterling City; sister-in-law, Emily Hall of Winnsboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Monday, June 16, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Smyrna Baptist Church, Wood County, with Brother David Hendricks officiating. Inurnment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery, Wood County.
Connie Sue Hinshaw, 67, of Greenbrier, Arkansas, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014. She was born Jan. 30, 1947, in Streator, Illinois, to Clifford Charles and Doris Mae (Gray) Cashmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clifford Hinshaw; brother Clifford Cashmer Jr.; daughter Kimmy Lynn; daughter Cindy; granddaughter Heather; grandsons Brian and Eric; great-grandson Joshua; and her grand-dog Duke.
She is survived by her four sons, Mike and Rachel Hinshaw of Cabot, Arkansas, Tim and Gail Hinshaw of Cornell, Illinois, Scotty Hinshaw of Bee Branch, Arkansas, and Doug and Carolyn Hinshaw of Gibson City, Illinois; one daughter, Amy and Terry Malott of Greenbrier; 10 grandchildren, Chance, Micah, Chace, Mike, Dianna, Lexie, Mandy, Crystal, Chad and Brandon; and numerous great-grandchildren; two grand-puppies; two sisters, Millie Dunning of Pontiac, Illinois, and (twin sister) Bonnie Fellers of Coal City, Illinois; two brothers, Chuck and Diana Cashmer of Pontiac, and Dannie Cashmer of Pontiac; and many other family and close friends.
Pallbearers: Michael Hinshaw, Chance Hinshaw, Chace Hinshaw, Micha Hinshaw, Dianna Hinshaw, and Trevor McIntire.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ransom Fellers, Caden Lee Malott.
Visitation was Tuesday, June 10, 2014, and funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel, Clinton, with Pastor Michael Roberson officiating. Hugh Crook, 87, a native Arkansan born in McGehee to Guy Herbert and Jesse Mae Crook, a resident of Stuttgart, and long-time resident of Fairfield Bay, went to the Lord on June 2, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his wife Norma (Crawford) Crook and survived by his first wife Eileen V. Crook; a sister, Angie; and five children, daughters Alice Avrett, Maureen Caracciolo, Kathy Crook, Colleen Sabino, and son James Crook; and 11 grandchildren.
Hugh was a WWII veteran serving as a Naval officer aboard the USS Kent. After the war he served shore duty until 1947 and then held reserve status until 1956 when he was honorably discharged. His civilian career was spent in the farm equipment business managing sales for International Harvester and later for King Wallace of Memphis.
Mr. Crook was a Christian and a member of the Methodist church. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to duck hunt, fishing on Greers Ferry Lake and the White River. Hugh had a great gift of gab with an endless array of country jokes and stories.
He will be greatly missed by many. A brief private memorial service will be held and his cremains distributed according to his wishes.
