Hugh Brown

Hugh H. Brown, 88, of Shirley, Ark., passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Ozark Health Nursing Center, Clinton. He was born Oct. 18, 1923, at Shirley to the late Homer R. and Sibyl (Bradford) Brown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and served his country aboard the Destroyer 580 USS Young. He was part owner and salesman for Merchants Wholesale Grocery Co., Shirley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Lindsey Brown. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Helen (Cooper) Brown whom he married Dec. 24, 1949; two sons, Jerel and wife Kathleen Brown of Shirley, and Byron Brown of Hot Springs; one daughter, Kevyn Allen of Fairfield Bay; three grandchildren, Sharon (J.C.) Vera, Jeremy (Marcia) Brown, and Krystn Allen; and two great-grandchildren, Laya and Holland Brown.

Graveside service and burial were 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Settlement Cemetery, Shirley. Donations may be made to The Ozark Health Foundation Scholarship Fund for Nursing, P.O.
