Gary Henderson



Gary Henderson was born Dec. 18, 1957, in Clinton, Ark., and passed away in the family home in Kennewick, Wash., on Feb. 20, 2013. He was the youngest of seven children born to Joe and Ruby Henderson.
As a boy he loved horses and liked to go camping for days in the Arkansas woods with just his horse. His love of camping continued all his life and he enjoyed taking his family camping all over the northwest. Gary also enjoyed snowmobiling with the family at Tollgate. In his younger years he took up bull riding for a while.
Gary moved to the Tri-Cities in the late 1970s and went to work at Boise Cascade for 22 years. Following that, he worked as grounds supervisor for Riverview Heights Cemetery.
Gary was a die-hard Razorback fan throughout his life. He also loved his motorcycle and enjoyed many daylong rides with his wife Debbi at his back.
Gary married his best friend Debbi Phillips on Sept. 17, 1994, and together they raised four great kids. He was a loving and generous Dad to the kids and a wonderful Grandpa to his two little granddaughters.
Gary was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law. Gary is survived by his wife Debbi; children Ed, Steven, Jacqueline and Donna; granddaughters Payten and Addison; his mother Ruby; and siblings, Walt (Vicki), Ellen, Chris (Red), Glenda (Ron), Ann (Ron), and Lynn; numerous nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law Peggy Phillips; and sister- and brother-in-law Donna and Bob Stout.
Services were 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 520 S. Garfield, Kennewick, followed by inurnment services at Riverview Heights Cemetery.
