Woman charged in burglary
On April 14, 2013, Van Buren County sheriff’s office responded to two separate calls in the Scotland area that resulted in criminal charges being filed against one person.
The first call was a “break-in in progress” at a residence off Pleasant Grove Loop in the Scotland area with the suspect still in the residence, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Deputies arrived to find Anita Pruitt, 42, of Scotland inside the residence. The owner arrived shortly to the scene and said Pruitt did not have permission to be there, the sheriff’s office said. Pruitt was arrested on a charge of residential burglary in that incident.
The next call was to report that a person discovered stolen property at his home and believed that Pruitt had brought it there, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators learned that the items in question had came from a residence off Flint Road in the Scotland area.
Pruitt was charged with criminal trespass of an occupied structure, according to Circuit Court records.
She was released on a $10,000 bond from the Van Buren County Detention Center.
