The Clinton Parks and Recreation supervisor, Jerry Evans, reported to Clinton Police that, sometime over the weekend, vandals spray painted obscene and vulgar sayings and pictures on several places at the City Park, according to a news release from police. Some other businesses also were painted. The city of Clinton is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandals.
Bridge replacement work will limit boat navigation on Greers Ferry Lake in Cleburne County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
Crews are replacing the Highway 225 (Sunny Slope Road) Bridge over Greers Ferry Lake. The bridge is located just east of Hill Creek Recreation Area. Workers will be moving large equipment and conducting small controlled explosive blasts at the lake bottom. During this time, navigation will be closed near the bridge.
The temporary closures began Monday, Oct. 21, and will be Sundays, weather permitting. The closures will be approximately 15-30 minutes long and will only occur during daylight hours.
The $8 million dollar bridge replacement is expected to be complete by late 2014.

The Shirley City Council discussed spring flooding on the lower ball field and what to do about repairs. Mayor Johnny Sowell said he had not yet been able to reach members of the ball association, so the item was tabled until next month’s meeting.
Councilors also discussed plans for the Halloween Boo Bash, and decided it would take place on Halloween night. Events will include a Community Church turn-or-treat, a costume contest and karaoke.
