The next meeting of the Van Buren County Quorum Court will be 7 p.m. Jan. 3, because of the state’s requirement for an annual organizational meeting. This will be the only scheduled meeting of the Quorum Court. The meeting place is the Quorum Court Room at the Courthouse Annex on Highway 65.
Dec. 20 was the last meeting for four justices of the peace: Ken Lemings, David McBee, Shannon Deckard and John Harmon. County Judge Roger Hooper praised the four for their work on the court and presented them with plaques. Harmon, who served from 2003-12, said he was honored to have served. McBee, who was appointed earlier this year to replace JP George Bruen who resigned for health reasons, said: “Thanks for putting up with me. … You do a wonderful job.”
