Van Buren County home sales increase in June

Home sales in Van Buren County increased in June, and statewide there was a slight increase of 3.9 percent, according to a report by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

The ARA reported that statewide home sales rose from 2,359 in June 2012 to 2,453 in June 2013. Year-to-date figures for the state were also up 8.8 percent.

In Van Buren County, sales were up significantly. Twenty-three homes were sold in June, compared to 12 in June 2012, according to the ARA report.

For the year to date, sales were also up. The report indicated 88 homes have been sold in Van Buren County, compared to 67 through by the same month in 2012.

The total value of the homes sold in Van Buren County was up 102 percent for the month compared year over year, increasing from $878,400 to $1.7 million. Year-to-date home sale values were up 45.7 percent, according to the report, increasing from $5.4 million in 2012 to $7.9 million in 2013. The statewide total was $411 million in June 2013.

The average price of the homes sold in Van Buren County was $77,278 in June 2013, up compared to $73,200 in June 2012. Year-to-date average prices were up from $81,294 in 2012 to $90,192 in 2013. The statewide average was $167,455 in June 2013.

Pulaski County led the state in home sales in most categories.
