Van Buren County home sales down in July

Home sales in Van Buren County decreased in July, while statewide there was a slight increase of 19 percent, according to a report by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

The ARA reported that statewide home sales rose from 2,178 in July 2012 to 2,594 in July 2013. Year-to-date figures for the state were also up 10.7 percent.

In Van Buren County, sales slightly decreased from 12 homes being sold this July, compared to 14 in July 2012, according to the ARA report.

For the year to date, sales were up slightly. The report indicated 100 homes have been sold in Van Buren County in July 2013, compared to 81 sales in the same month in 2012.

The total value of the homes sold in Van Buren County was up 30.35 percent for the month, year over year, increasing from $1.2 million to $1.6 million. Year-to-date home sale values were up 42.9 percent, according to the report, increasing from $6.7 million in 2012 to $9.5 million in 2013. The statewide total was $434 million in July 2013.

The average price of the homes sold in Van Buren County was $133,970 in July 2013, up from $88,092 in July 2012. Year-to-date average prices went up from $82,469 in 2012 to $95,446 in 2013. The statewide average was $167,407 in July 2013.

Pulaski and Benton counties led the state in home sales in most categories.
