Shirley man faces felony charges

A Shirley man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies.

On March 26, 2013, Van Buren County deputies went to 115 Fenwood, Shirley, to serve a warrant on Fred Wessel, 39. Deputies were unable to locate Wessel at the scene, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

A search warrant was obtained for Wessel’s residence, and with the assistance of the Arkansas Sate Police and the 20th Judicial Drug Task Force, several items were recovered that resulted in additional felony charges, the news release stated.

Wessel was apprehended the next day in the Eglantine area. He is currently being held at the Van Buren County Detention Center on multiple felony charges including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture, and maintaining a drug premises, the sheriff’s office said.
