Roadwork on Highway 65 to begin soon

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid from a Morrilton company for improvements to a roadway in Van Buren County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials.

The purpose of the project is to widen 1.4 miles of Highway 65 from three lanes to five lanes in Clinton.

The work will extend from Highway 16 East to Highway 65 B.

Mobley Contractors Inc. of Morrilton, Ark., has been awarded the contract at $12,480,474.25.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting, the highway department said in an e-mailed news release.

The project should be complete by late 2015.
