No one was injured in a near collision last week on Highway 65 in front of the Courthouse Annex.

Sheree A. Sowell of Clinton was making a left turn from the Courthouse Annex to head north last Wednesday. Bobby Joe Yancey of Marshall was heading south in his 2005 Chevrolet when Sowell tried to make the turn, according to a report from the Clinton Police Department.

The report said Yancey swerved left to avoid Sowell’s 2009 Chevrolet but contact was made as Sowell’s vehicle entered the turn lane. Sowell’s vehicle spun around, ending up facing south.

Yancey’s vehicle continued across the northbound lanes and hit a telephone company junction box and electric pole. The report said Sowell was at fault in the accident, and that Yancey’s insurance had lapsed.
