The Highway 110 Volunteer Fire Department has completed the Arkansas Firewise Certification Program! It was the only district in Van Buren County to start and be certified this year. The Firewise Community Wildfire Protection Plan is a program that we, as a community are getting trained on to understand the fire hazards and areas to be addressed where we can help maintain. Any community member can be a part of this program. By taking on clean-up and maintenance projects we earn points that will allow us to purchase much needed tools for the Fire Department. For more information come to one of the Fire Department meetings held the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. or visit arkansasfirewise.com.
The Highway 110 VFD officer elections were also held at the last meeting. Lucas Emberton remains as the chief, David Lowrance remains as the assistant chief, Barb McKinney will be our new secretary, and Deb Prout will remain as the treasurer. Board president is Dean McKinney and board members are Bob Bagley, Kenny Lasater, Maclin Litaker and Dan Prout.
We wish Kay Bensuk a speedy recovery after a fall broke her ankle! Get well soon Kay.
On birthday notes, Annie Holley turned 78 on Nov 24 and Maclin Litaker will be 32 on December 8. Happy first wedding anniversary to Lucas and Laura Emberton. They were married a year ago Dec. 9, 2011.
