Highway 110

Thanksgiving is upon us and what a wonderful thing to spend time with family, friends and community! There are so many things to be thankful for from the fresh air up here on the hill to our health and freedom. Be sure and take a few moments over this Thanksgiving weekend to give thanks!

Gavin Smith, age 9, shot his first buck this year!

There will be a sending-off party for Justin Whitbey on Nov. 25 at 5 p.m. in the Community Room at First Service Bank. Justin has enlisted in the military. All friends and community are welcome.

Plant Baptist Church hosted a wonderful Veterans Day program on Nov. 11. Again, we salute all our soldiers.

The next meeting of Plant Community Crafters for Christ will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 8:30 a.m. at Nancy Smith’s home on Oyler Rd (first house on right). This is a community function and is hosted each month by a different woman in the neighborhood. They share all sorts of crafting ideas as well as Christian fellowship. This month Nancy will demonstrate her wonderful baking skills by sharing her secret biscuit recipe! Yum! For additional information you can contact her at 253-3169.

Congratulations to James Thomas’ daughter Carrie on her Nov. 10 wedding officiated by Bro. Bob Bagley.

Dennard

Sad news for the Dennard area is that Fred Wilson recently passed away. Please remember his wife Gail and family in your thoughts and prayers.

Larry and Ellen Busch as well as the Sikes family will be having friends and loved ones visiting this week for the Thanksgiving holiday. I’m sure many of you have friends and family that will be traveling throughout the holiday season. A recent accident on Highway 254 is a good reminder to be extra careful on our windy roads. Be watchful too for the abundance of deer we have this year and please, please don’t let your loved ones drink and drive.

Speaking of deer and accidents we have also had a recent hunting accident. Hunters, we want you home for the holidays so once again please be careful.

Lordy, Lordy our mail carrier Matt just turned 40! Happy birthday Matt.

Tip for the week, take a nap before you head out for the Black Friday madness and the best gifts are the ones that come from the heart.

If you live in the Dennard area and have news please call Jackie Sikes at 253-4716.
