A Clinton man has been found guilty of manufacturing a controlled substance.
Dale Harvey Brown, 73, of Clinton was found guilty of manufacturing a controlled substance, greater than 4 ounces but less than 25 pounds, a C Felony. He was sentenced to 36 months in the Arkansas Department of Correction but the sentence was suspended as long as Brown does not violate terms of suspension.
Two other charges filed in July 2012, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, were dismissed.
Circuit Judge Charles E. Clawson heard the jury trial held June 25 at the Van Buren County Courthouse.
The affidavit for Brown’s arrest states that marijuana plants were seen by a Game and Fish Commission agent and drug task force agents growing underneath large white pipes on the north side of Brown’s garden on Kirkendoll Road. A search warrant was obtained agents photographed and collected evidence at the scene, the document states.
