An Alread couple say there were the target of a recent scam attempt.
Donald and Carolyn Ezell received a check in the mail for $995 from a company calling itself Global Test Market. The letter instructed the couple to put the check in their banking account and to then go pose as a customer at retail stores, according to Carolyn.
She said the letter said to complete an evaluation of the store to determine customer service.
Instead of depositing the check, the Ezells took it to First Service Bank, where they have accounts. They said the bank looked into it and said it was not a good check.
First Service’s Phillip Ellis cautions that anyone receiving a solicitation or check in the mail that they were not expecting should be leery of the offer.
