Home sales in Van Buren County and the rest of the state increased in August, according to a report by the Arkansas Realtors Association.
The ARA reported that statewide home sales rose from 2,273 in August 2012 to 2,819 in August 2013. Year-to-date figures for the state were also up 12.7 percent.
In Van Buren County, sales slightly increased. Eighteen homes were sold this August, compared to 14 in August 2012, according to the ARA report.
For the year to date, sales were also up. The report indicated 118 homes have been sold in Van Buren County, compared to 95 sales by the same month in 2012.
The total value of the homes sold in Van Buren County was down slightly for the month, but still hovering at about $1.4 million. Year-to-date home sale values were up 35.1 percent, according to the report, increasing from $8 million in 2012 to $10.9 million in 2013. The statewide year-to-date total was $2.9 billion.
The average price of the homes sold in Van Buren County was $80,266 in August 2013, down compared to $103,500 in August 2012. Year-to-date average prices were up from $85,568 in 2012 to $93,130 in 2013. The statewide year-to-date average was $159,615.
Benton County led the state in home sales in most categories.
