The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department has opened bids for improvements to a roadway in Van Buren County, according to Van Buren County Judge Roger Hooper.
The purpose of the project is to resurface 1.6 miles of selected sections of County Roads 94 (Burnt Ridge Road), near Clinton. Rogers Group of Nashville, Tenn., was awarded the contract at $181,741.32.
“The improvements on County Road 94 will begin southeast of Highway 16 and continue southeastward to County Road 1750,” Hooper said.
The county road project is funded through the State Aid Road Program established by the Legislature and administered by the State Aid Division of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department. This program provides approximately $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist counties with projects of their choosing on the county road system.
Hooper said work could begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in late summer of this year.
