Clinton, Leslie students take home honors at ASMSA science fair

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Students from Clinton and Leslie recently took home honors at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts West Central Regional Science Fair and Senior Research Symposium.

The two competitions, which were held Feb. 26-28, are the culmination of yearlong Fundamentals in Research Methods projects. An awards ceremony was held Friday, Feb. 28.

Alex Jaeger of Leslie, son of Dana and Jonathan Jaeger, won second place in the engineering: electrical and mechanical category.

The top three winners in each category are eligible compete in the Arkansas Science and Engineering Fair, which will be held at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway on April 4-5.

Each student participating in the science fair also participated in the West Central Regional Junior Academy of Sciences. Students were required to do a 10-minute presentation discussing their research. Alex won an honorable mention in the engineering: electrical and mechanical category for his presentation.

In the Senior Research Symposium, which is for humanities projects, Bryan Hernandez of Clinton, son of Cici and Joaquin Hernandez, won second place in the political science and government category.
