Bee Branch man charged with kidnapping

A Bee Branch man has been charged with kidnapping and domestic battering in the second degree.

Gary Wayne Holley, 49, was arrested Dec. 23, 2013, by Van Buren County sheriff’s deputies.

According to paperwork filed in Circuit Court, Holley held his live-in girlfriend from Dec. 20-22 at their home, refusing to let her leave.

The documents say Holley and the woman were fighting over sex. She told the investigator that Holley watches pornography on television and then demands sex. She said Holley cursed at her and called her names. She also said he broke a shop broom then stabbed her with it, broke fluorescent light bulbs over her legs, struck her with an ashtray and pulled handfuls of her hair, the documents state.

The woman told the investigator that she finally managed to get away with her child on Dec. 22.

Bond for Holley has been set at $500,000, and a no-contact order has been issued for him to stay away from the woman. His first appearance was Dec. 26. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 30, 2014.

Kidnapping is a Class Y felony and domestic battering in the second degree is a Class C felony.
