The Legislative Auditing Committee has approved a request from the prosecuting attorney’s office to investigate the Highway 110 Volundeer Fire Department’s expenditures.
The letter from 20th Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland to Roger Norman of the Division of Legislative Audit said in full:
“Dear Mr. Norman
“Please consider this letter a formal request for the Arkansas Division of Legislative Audit to conduct an investigation relative to expenditures of the Highway 110 Volunteer Fire Department located in Van Buren County, Arkansas.
“I make this request after visiting with the current treasurer of the organization, Lucas Emberton, who also serves as a Van Buren County Deputy Sheriff. Mr. Emberton has identified several irregularities with the organization that I believe warrant an investigation by Legislative Audit.
“I appreciate your consideration of our request and look forward to hearing from you.”
No date is set for the investigation to be completed.
