Two people were injured in a one-car accident last week in Clinton.
William Jones, 42, of Clinton told police he was making a left turn onto Cemetery Road from Highway 65 when his 2002 Hyundai skidded off the road and into the ditch.
A 2-year-old passenger in the vehicle was transported to Ozark Health Medical Center by Southern Paramedic Service after the child complained of shoulder and back pain, according to a report by Clinton Police Officer Jay Murdock.
Jones told Murdock that his wife was also in the vehicle but was taken from the scene by a passerby. Shawnia Jones then returned to the site of the accident and was taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle, according to the report.
Murdock said he interviewed Shawnia Jones at the hospital and she said Jones was driving fast and she thought that contributed to the accident. Shawnia Jones suffered a broken upper right arm in the accident. The child was discharged with no injuries treated, the report said.
William Jones was charged with driving without a license and failure to maintain control of a vehicle, according to the report. The accident occurred around 3:20 p.m. Dec. 13.
