The Van Buren County sheriff’s office have made a couple of arrests on drug-related charges in the past days.
About 11:30 a.m. July 29, 2014, Deputy Clayton Borecky made contact with 39-year-old Shannon Wigington during a traffic stop. Borecky found that Wigington was driving on suspended driver license, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.
With permission from Wigington to search the vehicle, Boreck discovered illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in a back pack inside the vehicle, according to the report. The 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force assisted Borecky in the investigation.
Wigington is being charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of misdemeanor illegal drug possession.
Around 2:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, Deputy David Merriott came across a vehicle parked in the middle of Banner Mountain Road. Merriott identified the driver as Bobby Joe Nixon, 46, of Shirley. Merriott, after receiving permission to search the vehicle, found illegal drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office report. The 20th Judicial Drug Task Force assisted in the investigation.
Nixon will be charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia and is currently incarcerated at the Van Buren County Detention Center awaiting a first appearance, the sheriff’s office says.
