From Lallah’s GardenEnzymes makelife possible

Dr. N.W. Walker, D.Sc. Book Fresh Vegetables and Fruit Juices, says what is missing in your body is probably enzymes.

What are enzymes? Enzymes are substances that make life possible. The rays of the sun send billions of atoms into plant life that changes elements into organic life containing elements for food by activating the enzymes.

Our body is made up of many elements. Some of the main ones are oxygen, calcium and sodium. For every chemical reaction that occurs in the body, it takes enzymes. Our body is in constant need of repair. Enzymes are the labor force that builds our bodies. Vitamins, minerals, hormones can’t do any work without enzymes. You may have all the nutrition for your body; you still need enzymes, the life element to keep your body alive and well. They take the elements and put them where they are needed for repairing the body.

Where do enzymes come from? We get a limited supply when we are born. They must last us a lifetime. When they are gone, we die. It’s like inheriting a certain amount of money, you can keep spending till you run out or you can earn money along the way and allow your inheritance to last.

How do we get our inherited enzymes to last since we need enzymes all the to time to stay alive? This will be from our choice of food. Raw food has life that is enzymes. They build the body; keep it balanced by putting the elements where they are needed for continued good health. If we continue getting our enzymes in our food, we aren’t using up our inherited ones.

We are responsible for how we nourish our body. The life in our food is what counts. Life is hidden in seeds of plants and in the sprouting, and in growth of plants.

Dr. Walker describes enzymes as an intangible magnetic cosmic energy of life principle, which is involved in the action and activity of every atom in the human body, vegetation and in every form of life. In order to regain and maintain the proper balance of health, most food we eat must contain live organic elements found in fresh raw vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. Oxygen is the most important essential element. When food is cooked (above 130º) oxygen is gone, enzymes are destroyed. Nourishment is gone too.

You probably know people who eat only cooked food. It’s true cooked and processed foods sustain life but the vital elements aren’t there to keep the body balanced. When you don’t have the elements where and when they are needed you get out of balance, you develop a disease. So what is missing? Enzymes.

Our garden is so very important. The good plants to feed us, the exercise to tend the garden…. That is important too.
