A local man has been honored with a quilt for his service during World War II.
Lloyd Bonds was awarded the quilt by a Quilts of Valor Group - A Second Tour.
Bonds was born in 1925 in Shirley. He was a combat infantryman during the war, and was involved in battles and campaigns in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon.
He served from 1943-46, and received several decorations and citations including the Purple Heart, a Victory Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal.
