Wellness program offered

Are you interested in health, nutrition, and being physically active? Do you want to help others be healthier? The University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service is now taking applications for a new Extension Wellness Ambassador Program. The first of its kind offered in the state. This program will teach participants simple strategies to improve their own health and the health of their neighbors in Van Buren County.

The Extension Wellness Ambassador training program will be offered over six sessions held July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and Aug. 6 from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Natural Resources Conservation Center in Conway.

Enrollment is limited to 30 participants. Following training and certification, volunteers agree to give back 40 hours of service to help others live healthier.

Cooperative Extension Service professionals, health professionals, and other specialists in their field will conduct all training.

Final selection of participants will be made from applications and interviews. Apply by May 24 to be considered for the program. For details, contact Van Buren County Extension Agent Regina Chaney at 745-7117, or e-mail rchaney@uaex.edu.
