The Van Buren County Extension Homemakers Club’s new executive committee and board of directors met in August to solidify plans for the year.
Committees were set up for the year. They are: Membership, Nurse’s Scholarship, Project Book, Public Relations/Publicity, Quilt Show, Craft Show/Sale, Sunshine, Historian, Communications, Bake Sale, T-Shirt, and RADA Product Sales.
The Fall EHC Council, an opportunity for all county EH Clubs to gather, will be conducted on Sept. 19 at the Four Square Church with Crabtree EHC hosting.
The council’s theme will be, “Compassion” and each club is to bring a table centerpiece of items to be given to the county’s Foster Children’s Program.
Some opportunities for club members to participate in volunteer opportunities are:
* Working in the annual county fair by entering projects and volunteering time.
* Entering a project in the Sew with Cotton contest sponsored by Farm Bureau and the Cooperative Extension Service. Deadline for entering a garment is Oct. 16. Applications can be picked up at the Cooperative Extension Office.
* Working in the annual Quilt Show by bringing an entry, and having crafts and/or baked goods for sale. The show is Nov. 11-16 at the fairgrounds.
Anyone interested in joining an EH Club should contact Regina Chaney at the extension office.
