Cynthia DeRose of Clinton is a 2012 University of Phoenix AMVETS scholarship recipient.
The scholarship is in appreciatin of the personal sacrifices made by veterans, service members and their families, the scholarship organization said. It has awarded $350,000 through 50 $7,000 scholarships nationwide to veterans, active duty service members and eligible family members to pursue a degree through University of Phoenix. AMVETS has teamed with University of Phoenix since 2007, offering more than 225 scholarships to veterans, service members and their families to help students transition from military to the civilian sector.
DeRose is a veteran of the U.S. Army and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in Accounting from University of Phoenix. She owns a local bookkeeping business and believes that a degree in Accounting, as well as becoming a certified public accountant, will help her grow her company and better serve her clients.
