Nola Hall Stroud of Scotland, Ark., celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 31, 2013. More than 160 family members and friends gathered from far and near for the celebration. Relatives came from California, Oregon, Missouri, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Illinois, as well as from Arkansas.
Poems written by Joe W. Jones and a family member were read, as were letters from President and Mrs. Obama, U.S. Sens. John Boozman and Mark Pryor and Gov. Mike Beebe. Presentations were made about what was going on the year Stroud was born and the changes she has seen in 100 years were.
The birthday girl was surrounded by lots of food, fun and fellowship.
