The 2013 Sew With Cotton Contest, which inspires those who love the art of fashion construction to display their talent, is drawing near.
The county contest entry deadline is Oct. 16. Contact county Extension Agent Regina Chaney for entry forms and contest rules at 745-2117.
There are contest divisions for both adults and youth. First place winners of the county contest will automatically be entered in the state competition. The state contest will be held Dec. 5, 2013, in Little Rock.
The Youth Division is for students age 14-18 years of age. The Adult Division is for participants 19 years old and older. Professionals in fashion, design and sewing may not enter. Participants must construct all garments worn in competition. Fabrics must be 100 percent cotton, after all the Arkansas Cotton Industry is promoting this contest.
Cash awards won at the State Sew With Cotton Contest are: 1st place - $400; 2nd place - $250; 3rd place -$150; 4th place - $100; and 5th place $50. Sweepstakes winners for the youth and adult division receive a portable serger valued at $450.
