Melba Mackey of Mount Pleasant, Miss., visited her mother Joan Allen Thursday through Saturday.

On July 5, Bennie and Doris Brown became great-grandparents for the first time.The new parents are Tyler and Lauren Caston of Onia. Case Allen Caston weighed 6 pounds at birth.

Mark and Laura Davis went to Auburn, Ala., last week to visit Mark’s relatives.

Clarence and Patsy Watts Taylor hosted a family reunion for the descendants of the late Billy and Magalene Watts last weekend at their home on Lute Mountain Road. Twenty-five family members of Freda and Earnie Sowell, Patsy and Clarence Taylor and Danny and Linda Watts attended.

Crabtree

The Crabtree Reunion is being held Aug. 3 at the Foursquare Church.

The church’ s children are at summer camp till Friday.

Verl Jackson says a little rain last week and a little this week may allow for a second hay cutting, but the area needs more.

Dennard

The Dennard Post Office will be holding a public community meeting at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Dennard Fire Department on Highway 65 North. This meeting is being held to answer questions and to provide additional information about POST Plan. Surveys have been sent to customers within the delivery zip code of the post office. The results of the meeting and the survey will help the Postal Service make its decision to keep our current post office open or to discontinue the services they currently provide at that location. This meeting is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend, so mark your calendar now and return your survey.

New Beginnings Church on Highway 254 East is hosting Vacation Bible School from 6:30-8:30 p.m. nightly July 29-Aug. 1.
