A Clinton group has set its sites on making the Guinness World Records book with a huge potluck party.
The Clinton Business Revitalization Association has had its application accepted by Guinness. The attempt to break the record will be held in conjunction with SurvivorFest, which is scheduled for Aug. 23, 2014, according to the group.
The current potluck record is 860 participants at an event organized by Interfaith of Natrona County in Casper, Wyoming, in 2012, organizers say. The SurvivorFest event is a celebration of Van Buren County’s survival of 17 natural disasters since 2003, according to organizer Jackie Sikes.
The World’s Largest Potluck Party will be held at the Clinton school auditorium. Admission is a potluck dish, which must be large enough to serve six.
“We’re very excited to be attempting to set this World Record,” says Wendy Russ, event organizer. “It will demonstrate that while we might be a small community, we have a mighty heart and the determination of giants. Who does a potluck better than people in the South?”
Organizers are looking for dedicated volunteers to help with the event. For more information contact Russ at 253-0019 or Sikes at 253-4716.
