Piecemakers

By Brenda Dunlap

Piecemakers Quilt Club held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Linda LaDoux welcomed members and a new member. Doris Brown gave the treasurer’s report; and Victoria Banks conducted the business meeting. Eloise Brown presented the Mystery Quilt. She showed us the blocks we will be making for October and let us know that the patterns have no corrections this month. Participants showed their September blocks and LaDoux won the prize drawing. Jan Savu and Ramona Johnson discussed the upcoming Fall Retreat—less than two weeks away. Debi Morton and Judi Talberg provided information about the auction we will be having at our October meeting. The auction will probably last a while so plan to bring a lunch.

Morton also discussed the Van Buren County Extension Homemakers Quilt and Craft Show, which will be Nov. 13-16 at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds. Quilts will be accepted on Monday and judged on Tuesday. The show will be open to the public Wednesday through Saturday. No entry fees will be charged.

Last month’s Sit and Sew was to make hand pillows for the Nursing Home and many club members made them at home. They were delivered to the Nursing Home the same day.

Piecemakers next meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Methodist Church in Clinton. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to attend.
