The Van Buren County Extension Homemakers Clubs are looking for local projects that need a helping hand. A recent meeting of the board of directors of the county EHC discussed the idea of looking for needs that we can fill. An example is a local Girl Scouts troop that has asked for our help in making uniform vests and sashes that would otherwise be too expensive for some new Scouts.
There are EH clubs in Alread, Chimes, Clinton, Crabtree, Damascus, Shirley and Davis Special that would like to make a difference. Does your organization have a need for something that we could help you make? Do local nursing homes, 4-H Clubs, senior citizen groups or others have some standing need that we could fill? If you think we might be able to help you, contact Patty Munson at (870) 496-2636 or firstname.lastname@example.org, or Regina Chaney, county Extension agent, at 745-7117 or email@example.com.
A room full of dedicated women can accomplish a lot. All they need is a focus. The clubs are open to anyone who is interested in becoming a member.
The Idle Hour Bridge Club met Thursday evening at the home of Mildred Thompson. Winners were: high, Nancy Clark; second high, Lou Burgess; traveling, Jean Harness; and bingo, Billie Fendley.
