About 30 enthusiastic quilters gathered for Piecemakers monthly Quilt Club meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Linda LaDoux welcomed members, returning members and guests. Doris Brown gave the treasurers report; and Victoria Banks conducted the business meeting. First on the agenda was the Sunshine Report. We have several members who are struggling and are in need of prayers and support.
Eloise Brown called on Block of the Month participants to show their mystery blocks for August. Myra Crawford was the winner of the prize drawing. In September, Eloise will teach our Sit and Sew and we will be making a small duffle bag.
Debi Morton provided information about the auction we will be having at our October meeting.
The Van Buren County Fair is coming up soon and the club decided unanimously to donate money for two prize awards in the quilting category.
The “Sit and Sew” was to make hand pads for stroke patients at the nursing home. These small pads fit in the palm of the hand so the fingers can gently curl around the pad instead of curling tightly in their palm.
Piecemakers next meeting will be 10 a.m. Sept. 18 at the Methodist Church in Clinton. Quilters and anyone interested in quilting are welcome to attend.
