There is much excitement about the upcoming bus trip to the Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Show in Springfield, Mo., on Thursday Sept. 20. Plans are being made to also take a bus to the Belle Point Quilters Quilt Show in Fort Smith on Oct. 12. Susan Moore brought our challenge to “Rescue this Ugly Little Star Quilt” to a conclusion. Victoria Banks and Brenda Dunlap received the participant prizes. Then, Maralou Spears presented the next five Civil War blocks: Sanitary Commission, Little Blue Basket, Catch Me If You can, Grapes of Wrath, and Frietche Star. We will be doing 5 blocks per month for the next three months. So many amazing quilts and projects were shown in the Sew and Tell part of the program—makeup bags, purses, totes, aprons, baby quilts, heart quilts, butterfly quilts, quilts with flowers and vases, quilts with houses, half square triangle quilts, pieced quilts, appliquéd quilts, over-dyed quilts. The grand finale was a Yo-yo quilt with over four thousand yo-yos brought by a guest, Mary Meyers.
The Sit and Sew project was an Iron Caddy and Pad presented by Linda Forry. It was easier than it looked and most of those who stayed were very close to having their project complete before they left.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 15, at the Methodist Church in Clinton at 10:00 am. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to attend.
