Van Buren County native Ester Bass has announced his desire to run for the office of circuit clerk in the 2014 May primary.
Bass served 12 years as both county clerk and circuit clerk for Van Buren County. In the General Election of 2012 the voters elected to split the office because of the tremendous growth of the county due to the gas industry. The Quorum Court appointed Bobbye Bennett to serve as county clerk until the 2014 elections. Because Bennett was appointed to the position, she will be unable to run for the office and a new county clerk will be elected this year.
Bass, on the other hand, continued to serve as Van Buren County Circuit clerk and recorder of deeds and is now seeking his eighth term for that position.
Bass has been married to his wife, Barbara, for 44 years and they live at 212 Silver Rock Road in Shirley, Ark. They have three children, Lisa Bordeaux of Illinois, Rachel Brock of Berryville, Ark., and Bailey Bass of Conway, Ark.
Bass also has served as pastor of the Botkinburg Foursquare Church for the past 14 years.
“It has been a tremendous honor to serve as your circuit clerk for the past 14 years,” says Bass. “We remain dedicated to the people of Van Buren County, and want to continue the privilege of serving you.”
