The Greers Ferry Lake Area Alzheimer’s Arkansas Walk is looking for a new chairman. George Kelley is retiring from his position as fund-raising/walk chair for the organization after six years.
Kelley has been associated with Arkansas Alzheimer’s for eight years as a volunteer and has spoken on behalf of the organization to Rotary clubs, Lions and a senior citizens center.
From 1999-2007, Kelley and his wife were caregivers for her mother who had the disease.
The Greers Ferry Lake area group is looking for a dedicated, compassionate, outgoing, organized person to replace Kelley.
Alzheimer’s Disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S. More than 5 million Americans are living with this disease. For those with Alzheimer’s, the support of family, friends and caregivers is very important.
Ozark Health Nursing Center and Rehab, along with Ozark Health Home Health, will host their first Alzheimer’’s Dementia support group at Petit Jean Electric’s Conference Room from 2-4 p.m. March 5, 2014. Snacks will be provided and the group plans to meet monthly.
