Lectures, living history events and exhibits are among the events the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission has sanctioned for November 2012. Among the Civil War sesquicentennial events during November are:

* “The Camden Expedition and Its Role in the Red River Campaign of 1864,” a lecture by Dr. Gary Joiner of Louisiana State University-Shreveport, will be held at the SouthArk Library Auditorium in El Dorado on Nov. 1; call (870) 862-8131 or e-mail director@soarkhistory.com for additional information.

* Civil War Weekend, featuring re-enactors and combat scenarios, will be held Nov. 3-4 at Historic Washington State Park, with a School Day on Nov. 2; call (870) 983-2684 or e-mail historicwashington@arkansas.gov for more information.

* “Other Voices: Civil War in the Ozarks,” a free symposium on the war on the home front in the Ozarks, will be held at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History at Springdale on Nov. 10; call (479) 750-8165 or e-mail syoung@sprindalear.gov for more information.

* “Fought in Earnest: Civil War Arkansas,” the Arkansas History Commission’s traveling exhibit, will be on display at the Arkansas State Library in Little Rock Nov. 8-15; call (501) 682-2837 or e-mail danny@library.arkansas.gov for additional information.

* The Civil War in Cleburne County ACWSC historical marker will be dedicated at the Cleburne County Courthouse in Heber Springs on Nov. 10; e-mail geologcabin@aol.com for more information.

* Naval Combat at West Point ACWSC historical marker will be dedicated Nov. 17 at the West Point Volunteer Fire Department in West Point; call (501) 454-1901 for more information.

* Civil War Round Table of Arkansas will feature David Casto speaking on “The Ninth Missouri Cavalry and a Forgotten Skirmish near Augusta,” winner of the 2012 Charles O. Durnett Award, at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock on Nov. 27; e-mail rmeadows@aaamissouri.com for more information.
