The Sew and Sews held its annual Christmas craft sale to benefit the Angel Tree. This is our third year for this sale and we continue to raise more money each year for this wonderful cause. We have been sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting and creating these great hand made items from fabric and yarn that have been donated during the year by some of the very generous people here in Van Buren County. All of the items made are then sold and 100 percent of our intake goes to the Angel Tree. We broke our goal this year and were able to raise $380. We held a drawing for a hand-quilted panda wall hanging and a plastic canvas sleigh. The lucky winners were Sheila Pearson and Roy Gatlin. Next year’s plans include a raffle for a queen size quilt. We are looking for more quilters to help us out with this project. We will be making a sampler quilt using 12 1/2” blocks. If you would like to help us create this quilt to raffle at the end of the year for the Angel Tree, contact Deborah Jones at 253-3497 or join us at our next get together at First Service Banks Commmunity Room on the second and fourth Friday of each month at 10 a.m. Our next meeting will be on Jan. 11 due to the holidays.
