The sixth annual Emergency Responders appreciation dinner is Saturday, Feb. 1, from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Clinton Senior Center. Food is free and everyone is welcome.

The 4-H Valentine Party will be held from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds in the GW Building. Dress will be semi-formal. All members are asked to bring individually wrapped snacks or drinks. Non-perishable food items will be collected from each member attending and distributed to Van Buren County food banks. There will be dancing, games and a photo booth for youth. Parents and members are encouraged to attend County O’Rama events starting at 6 p.m. Must be an active 4-H member to attend these events. Weather permitting, there will be a gospel singing on Woolverton Mountain at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church. A potluck meal will be served after the singing. Call Charlotte West at 745-2596 for directions.

First Baptist Church, Sugar Loaf, 557 Highway 337, Higden, will be hosting a Fifth Friday gospel singing at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31. This is a non-denominational singing; everyone is welcome and may participate in “special music” after the congregational songs. A potluck will follow.

Damascus Chapter 515, Order of the Eastern Star, will serve breakfast from 7-9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in the Doric Lodge 471 F&AM, Highway 65 and 285 West in Damascus. The menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and sausage gravy. All donations will help support charities. Everyone is welcome.
